“Many of the women will come to the shelter either from the hospital
or by a police escort. With our help, they begin to see that they have
the right to be safe and that their children deserve to live in a violence-free
environment.
We help our clients see that they have the ability to gain control
of their lives and move forward.
It is our goal to provide a safe
structure and valuable resources for our clients, with the hope that
they will seize
the opportunity and provide safety and security for themselves and
their children.”

Salinas Shelter

FAMILY EMERGENCY SHELTERS |

Shelter
Outreach Plus operates two 30-60-day emergency shelters in Salinas
and Seaside. The shelters offer women and children
safety and assistance as they begin the rehabilitative process necessary
to break the cycle of abuse or homelessness.
A 24-bed facility in Salinas and a 16-bed home in Seaside provide 24-hour,
year-round hope. A woman entering shelter finds a clean room for herself
and her children with ongoing support such as food, clothing, and sundries.
Counseling services help her to obtain a job and housing gives her the
opportunity to get off the street and to begin the process of rehabilitation
necessary to become self-sufficient.
At Salinas, women and children have access to:- Case management
- Support groups for women
- Support groups for children
- Fully stocked and functional kitchens for families to prepare meals
- Donated clothing is available for women and their children upon arrival.
- Bilingual staff offer
quality programs providing support, guidance,
and encouragement.
At our Seaside shelter, women and children have access to:
- Food
- Clothing
- Assistance in finding employment
- Assistance in securing childcare
- Case management
