HOW YOU CAN HELP
Become An Advocate
If you have a skill you want to share, we can find a place for you to help. Regularly, women and men studying at the Defense Language Institute donate their time to Shelter Outreach Plus, as mentors to the children and to assist staff with large projects. Several churches are not only involved in hosting homeless men at their location, but also provide fundamental resources to those in need. It is vital that the community be not only aware of the impact of homelessness upon the lives of thousands of people each year, but also become active in helping prevent homelessness in the first place and some of the causes that surround it. For those interested in helping alleviate the problems of homelessness, some ways you can become involved with Shelter Outreach Plus and other agencies serving the needs of homelessness include:
- Volunteering time through our programs to meet with families and individuals and encourage them in their efforts to get back on their feet.
- Encourage local funding agencies to support ongoing housing, food and clothing provisions for the homeless by donating to Shelter Outreach Plus programs.
- Lobby local congregations to support the I-Help program and encourage them to allocate resources towards SOP outreach programs.
